when days avail
It was a travel day or part of one. Going to Battambang is an easy one. Get on minivan and go about 3 hours with one stop. The transit service is a few blocks from our hotel. So it could be walked but we do the tuktuk for 4k riel. We have the roller bag thing and we’re lazy.
Once here it’s to Seng Hout Hotel. We found this little hotel last year and it just works so well. It’s by the river and market thus fulfilling both our needs. Where we enjoy having Indian food is a few blocks.
As it happened my wife got a cold the day before we left. It kinda wiped her out yesterday but we knew we were gonna go no matter. Both of us wanted away.
Once here was time to walk somewhere. Heat or rain or feeling crappy I have to go. I feel even worse if I don’t. So today by the river walk area.
So off I went. Sweating soon and then sun showers. Felt kinda wiped out so the walk was lesser. Still though I always feel better with the doing. Got back and my wife had bought a big bag of rambutan. I love the red and yellow and strange looking fruit. They’re grown around here. Here’s a vendor selling them.
Ended up buying some stuff at the store for our room. Need to get other things as well. We are here 4 nights. I did splurge and get some Heineken beer. So there’s that.
Now back to the room and some peace and some privacy. This morning this lady that helps my wife just barged into our room. I can’t take that. It’s one of the privacy things here that Khmer people seem to miss. I never do. I have to ask my wife to tell some people I expect them to knock at the bedroom door.
Anyways now some Khmer movie on the tv. We don’t have a tv so when we go somewhere my wife enjoys having.
Tonight and some
Indian food tonight later. Flavors of India is a wonderful little place we found here. It’s a 10 minute walk down side streets which we both love to do here.
See you for the real first day tomorrow.
